Anderzander
I’m thinking of putting some Defender steel wheels on my series so I can run tubeless radials - can anyone give me a pointer of what would be a fair price for a set of 5 please? western
My XD/Wolf steels were around 35 quid each, Probabbly a bit more now, there are 2 versions Tubed & Tubeless, the Tubed ones are stamped 'TUBED' on the outer rim face.

western
Thought they might have gone up, I've had mine for about 12 years http://www.paddockspares.com/anr4583pm-16x6-5-wolf-rim-tubeless-black-primer-coated.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzeGztsOo2AIV5hXTCh3IOgTvEAkYAyABEgJfKvD_BwE

Not a lot. Old sodbury sortout is the perfect place for this kind of thing. Or this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Defender-110-Tdci-Puma-earlier-set-of-5-steel-wheels-Continental-tyres/142630519721?hash=item21357103a9:g:rEUAAOSwUoNaLF1~ I believe from the TDCI onwards, they were tubeless, which should be 2007 onwards. Must say, wolf rims are not for me.... Daan
Retroanaconda
The standard tubeless steels are fairly cheap, they were fitted to many later Defenders. Earlier vehicles used tubed ones. I have three in the shed, but I’m afraid I need them!
Mutley
Standard black madular go for about 40 quid each i think?.... You should be able to get a deal on set xt5 i would have thought. Anderzander
Thanks guys. I know someone with a TDCi who has just fitted a set of boost wheels, so I’ll make an offer. at this point of being about to buy tyres I’m thinking I want the added performance and safety of a radial tyre. It means a bigger outlay - so I was hoping the wheels won’t be a fortune. With them being for a series I didn’t want wolf or modulars - as standard a look as possible but able to take the more modern tyre.
western
standard steels are only 5.5 inches wide, so restrict tyre size, but 7.50 x 16 radials will fit. anything bigger needs a wider wheel either 6.5 [XD/Wolf] or 7,0 Discovery steels for example. Daan
There is a solution for that tough. Daan
Anderzander
I only want a 6.50” tyre 😊
AV8R
Brand new tubeless Series looking 16x5,5" rim is RRC503600PM https://www.lrdirect.com/Parts-by-Model/Defender-Parts/Axle-Rear/Wheels/RRC503600PM-Steel-road-wheel/ There's a German company working on this type wheel in 16x8". Since you only want a 6,5" tyre stock size is best.
AV8R
Just in case you do want something wider https://www.nakatanenga.de/fahrzeugtechnik/reifen-felgen-raeder/felgen/5492/nakatanenga-anr-classic-stahlfelge-8x16?c=67 Not cheap at €129 each, but they will look great with some 255/85R16's. Daan Earlier than that, maybe even 2002 onwards were tubeless, couldn't say exactly when but certainly pre-Puma vehicles had tubeless 5.5x16 steels
muddy
I would pay no more than £20 each for very good condition standard steels.
ianmayco68
Got a set of 5 in the shed with Mitchelin tyres on , tyres nearly new . They’re off my project will be putting alloys on her so surplus to requirements if your still looking for some .
Anderzander
Ahh - I’ve just bought some ! But thank you !
Arjan
If you are not urgently needing to get rid of those, I'd be very interested in those 5 rims (michelins are welcome) to be used under the Hybrid. I seem to be doing a UK Raid in March / April to collect quite a few bits and you are not too far off the route.
ianmayco68
No not in any urgent hurry , the plan was to sell them on latter or swap them for some alloys if anyone had some lying around unwanted . Can pm you some photo's if you want ?

Vass in Amptill had hundreds of them kicking about, used and new ex-MoD stock, most with XZL or G90 tyres, for very sensible prices. They'd be worth a call. Anderzander
I’m back on the hunt now - the chap turned up today but his were white 8 spokes 😞 he thought they were standard Defender wheels. I’ll try Vass as above - but if anyone has a set, please let me know.
Anderzander
So Vass have come back to me: they no longer sell Defender Wheels and tyres ☹️ They must have been selling off stock. My search continues.....
