Stellaghost Posted October 16, 2023 Author Share Posted October 16, 2023 On the exhausts ( still need to measure up ) I have been considering routing the exhaust through my tree sliders and have the exhaust exit point at the back.. I think I could run some stainless down the centre of the tree sliders and then join from the exhaust manifolds to the pipe fixed in the slider with a stainless braided connector plan to use both tree sliders for this Will hopefully measure up this afternoon to see if it is viable. Regards Stephen That is asking a lot of the flexi sections to have rigid pipes so far away from the centre line of the engine? Will you have a balance connection between banks? But the exhaust will get HOT being petrol, I wouldn't want it anywhere near anywhere I could easily touch, not just for me, but also pedestrians/random children walking up to Sid and wanting to give him a hug. A lot of exhaust theory (and there's books written on it) is only really a problem for high-performance stuff and will make very little useful difference to most of us. But yes, V8 exhausts WILL get surprisingly hot, mine melted a polybush that was initially used to hang it at the transfer case mount and recently my shiny new difflock actuator plumbing gave way due to being too close to the downpipe (mounted above the chassis near where the exhaust passes). Stellaghost Posted October 17, 2023 Author Share Posted October 17, 2023 No real progress, however have been having a go at trying to make my bead lock rings, have had a degree of success but not to how I want So I tried some cooper split bearing locking rings with drilled and tapped holes with 6mm grub screws for extra grip Machined outer diameter for clearance with opposite roller some 3mm x 25mm flat bar rings fitted onto my flat bar roller flat bar put through a couple of times, its starting to curve, long way to go yet... carried on rolling and took it past the diameter I wanted as test bar wasn't long enough anyway in the rim so you get the idea so its doing it but I need to make some proper gapped rollers, on a new jig with rollers further apart to make stretching flat bar end on easier. Also bar I rolled this morning is slightly dished, which I'm not happy about, the locking rings move as the ring gets tighter, does not matter how tight I try to get them they still shift with the pressure, this is why i need to make solid rollers with a 3mm and 6mm recess so nothing can move out of the way dished ring below all in all a good experiment to see if it would work, it will just need better jig I could cut the rings out of plate, but that would be a hell of a waste of material Regards Stephen 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've had good success actually with a piece of string tied to the plasma torch... Or cut it roughly to shape, drill a hole in the centre, nail to the bench through that, clamp plasma torch at desired radius and spin plate by hand. Getting it to draw circles is another matter but you could still cobble something together like those tools for cutting circles by hand with a plasma cutter.
