Happyoldgit
I've always had a soft spot for Jimny's. Autocar has done a typical Autocar review of the new one which can be found here.
daveturnbull
I didn't like the old one much, but this new one really appeals. It's barely out of the door yet and I've already seen pictures of re-styled versions to look more like a G wagen and Defender.
SPendrey
That looks nice, but sounds a bit poor.
Bowie69
I liked the old one very much, simple to work o , capable, had one for a few years with the early non-interference eight-valve engine, . Typical Japanese reliability as well. New one just looks better again, who says LR couldn't make a ladder chassis'd replacement for the 'fender? Cynic-al
I love it. You can see why the Japanese design it, their top speed limits are often 50 so no need for a motorway cruiser, cities are very small so a small boxy car with no overhang suits, simple small engine and the ability to climb the hills in the cold winters they get. The back seats fold flat and are covered in plastic for easy loading and the rear door is flat and square for easy loading. They estimate a price tag of £16k which sounds strong but when you compare it to a new fiesta it actually not that bad, they certainly hold their money well too. Not too heavy either so it won't sink into the ground badly so it's ideal for anyone with a bit of land. Throw a small bail in the back or shovel and off to your job. Certainly more manoeuvrable than a pickup. That said a pickup can tow, can carry 4+ the bail or shovel and start at around the 16k mark if you can reclaim the vat so meh. Bowie69
I liked the note about shortening it 30mm to fit into the Kei car regs in Japan, then fitted with a 650cc turbo engine
FridgeFreezer
Just don't crash it... https://jalopnik.com/we-regret-to-inform-you-the-new-suzuki-jimny-isnt-great-1829175408
Bowie69
3/6 is better than 1/6 😛
Bowie69
and Fridge, you do realise you are bringing up crash safety on a Land Rover forum that seems eschew most stuff that doesn't have square corners and a ladder chassis... are you feeling alright? western
I think it looks more like a small jeep renagade
miketomcat
It only looks like it failed because it doesn't reduce itself to the passenger compartment in a 5 mph crash like every other car I've seen crashed for the last 20 years. daveturnbull
I think a lot of the crash test failures were for pedestrian safety.
Blanco
+1 for the resemblance to a mini renegade, I think they got the look just right.
Cynic-al
I thought mini g-wagon, the jeep is far too rounded It lost points for not having automatic braking, I look out the window when driving not at my phone like most so I feel I can live without that feature. smallfry
We have the OLD Jimny here. If its anything like the old one it will be brilliant. Our old one will go anywhere a standard Defender will go, with the exception of slightly less ground clearance.
Yostumpy
Japs have already started to customise them....... If it was bigger I'd have one, but they are tiny At first I liked the defender looking one, with the wheel arches, but now I prefer THIS>>>>>>>>>> Edited September 27, 2018 by Yostumpy

Cynic-al
For similar money you could have an electric hummer https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hummer-LSV-Electric-car/253890686162?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Df9b43b4931f74f7bb3b3df8bd2befc1c%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D283177740490%26itm%3D253890686162&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A0a3ad220-c310-11e8-99d8-74dbd1800452|parentrq%3A1fe58c031660a9e487632dbcfff6a8cc|iid%3A1
