<slap awaiting mode>Are you gonna clean that plenum or not bother?</slap awaiting mode>

Looking good Nige, I bet after all this time you really do need to hear it run very soon....

Hmmm, thought about making the airbox thingumy out of clear perspex...? Nothing like looking at three chokes opening all at the same time

Moving forwards now

With bits from Monsewer Gibbon here on LR4x4, and my trusty cleaning tank with BS666

'disolve skin bone & tissue' "Organic" cleaning fluid :) I sent the cleaned serp 3.9 dizzy stylee front end to

John for "JED tweaking", including converting to Remote oil filter / thermostat, new gears, and other tweaks, now

back ...so update soon(ish) when cuddling it has finished :moglite:

Top is oil in, Bottom is oil out :)

Mr Gibbon may be along to confirm 'on delivery' to moi, it was not 'quite' this clean

This is what John said SHOULD have been on it, was when it was built, was then bodgificated, and then

on me getting it sorted with Johns help to what was originally on there.

Anyone want to buy a wierdly modified Thor Timing cover, tweaked by "Mongo" from blazing saddles fame ? :D

(well looks like his work  )

:)

  • 4 weeks later...

Oh God don't :(

Spent an inorinate amount of time on the issue of the front cover and front end, spent no less

than 10 hours this weekend getting nowhere with bits that should fit that don't, learnt a lot,

some about V8s and the changes between model years and also not to maybe buy engines fully stripped

in boxes.

Update and pics later

:(

When all said and done, ask yourself 'Would I do it again?' And then you know it is worth it or not... :)

All this for an extra ~ 50BHP, might as well have chucked a beetle engine in the back, flat four, should fit between the wheelboxes

Well you **********s I have been a cleaning and a grumping today and have cleaned all

the bits from a 4.0 Serp Short Timing Cover V8 fropm Grant on this forum (which I bought for "Prototyping work" for megasquirt

(Thats that firework well and truly Pi**ed On) as its now in bits, and is a long motor that looks like its been raped (well, it has)

Grants 4.0 Front end, will, with a bit of luck, 14 litres of superglue and some hammering be going on the front end

of the eales. May even keep the A/C pump for an on board air version - need to see what it clouts on fitting.

Should have some pics by the weekend, hoping to shove it built into the 90 and have it working 1/ 2nd week june :)

Mut go, SWMBO has put beer in my padded cell, so screaming calleth :D

Sweet God almighty

More greif, bits mismatched like oil pick up pipe to sump, sump to timing cover and other

Grrr moments, but as I type tonight - knackered havehad a great indian takeaway with mate helping me,

and about to have a skinfull of 1664 :D the engine sits with most of it built, and we think the rest should now be straight

forward  but gawd I feel hugely unsure of even touching it tommorrow even less doing anything to it

being its going to be Friday 13th

Might take pics - that has to be sfae doesn't it ?

Nearly nealy there, fitting is 1st week June as SWMBO is away and I can spend unlimted time in the workshop and unlimited

£s with delivered Takeaways :)
