greenmeanie
It's not just LRs. I rang loads of people o insure the noddy car, my business insurance was £380 ish and I thought I could do better. Ramg my union, I thought they should be able to do bespoke cover thast perfectly matches my needs, I need "business" use to travel between sites once a week for example. Well they wanted £750odd, I thought at first that was the value they placed on the car rather than the premium. Unhappy with your renewal? apparently it's the ambulance chasers we have to blame for it. Nothing to do with how much modern pedestrian friendly cars cost to fix at all! Dealing with the ambulance chasers may be driving up the cost. Then again, the fact more and more people are having to resort to ambulance chasers because of the apathetic to down right dodgy practices of the insurance companies trying to avoid settling claims is the real cause. The ambulance chasers only have a growing marketbecause of the UK insurance comapnies. I've dealt with US insurance companies, Swiss insurance and by far the most dodgy of the lot were the UK insurance. Everything from scrapping cars before low balling the owner on the price to procrastinating on payouts for injuries in the hope that the average person will just give up. Mo Murphy
I went with a broker called Grove & Dean via money supermarket. Underwritten by Equity Red Star comes with legal cover, uninsured loss, UK recovery as standard and European recovery for a paltry extra £
KKMobile
Get mine through "Herts Insurance Services" been with them for about 3 years now they were the cheapest when i went with them & haven't really gone up apart from upgrades i have added recently. Retroanaconda
Both of my policies are due on 1st June, so will be interesting to see what the renewal quotes are. Paid £400 and £440 last year with Adrian Flux, for the Series III and 90 respectively. I imagine it will go up, but time will tell as to how much. Might try and get a single policy for the vehicles, but with one being a 'classic' and the other modified a bit I don't know how that will work. task
so, got my insurance renewal for the Series 3 in the post from Flux, £320. Phoned pickles, got a quote for £290. Called Flux back and they did me a quote almost straight away for £275. I'm not actually planning on insuring it on the renewal date as all it's done for the past 3 months is sit in the garage while I build the CSK. I think that pretty much matches my quote from Flux last year though.
plasticbadger
My Flux renewal came in EXACTLY the same price as last year, £565, but with some changes to named drivers and some haggling it came down to £440. So I'm very happy. I've been with Flux for nearly 10 years with various standard classics, modified cars and LRs and now on the Disco for business use and they've always been great. The highest quote I had on Compare The Market was a balmy £18,735.04 from 'Wiser Choice Insurance' PS, what's an Ambulance Chaser?
crclifford
PS, what's an Ambulance Chaser? One of those 'No Win, No Fee' lawyer type people.
mad_pete
Ambulance Chaser is a lawyer that follows ambulances so he can be in quickly with law suits for the injuries with a no win no fee policy no doubt.

MONKEYCOPPER
I tried NFU yesterday, and i get the feeling they really dont care, got passed to my local office as they "dont really insure vehicles with more than 7 seats" NFU meant to be ringing me back monday, i shant hold my breath. pat_pending
I've been with the NFU for years, just had the renewal on the car policy... up 60% on last year. Land Rover is due next month and I expect a similar rise. Needless to say they've lost all my business. It's pity as the people at the office I use (Bedford) are great to deal with. The NFU opened an office in Hitchin last year and seemed to be trying to attract non farming business, not with these premium hikes.
MONKEYCOPPER
i was with NFU a few years back, but that dont count for anything and lady told me that all premiums have risen by 40%, I just cant understand how they are unsure as to there OWN policy on insuring vehicles with more than 7 seats !! it really is laughable when they are meant to be the farmers friend and most (not all i know)farmers drive a landrover yet im trying to explain that mine is a csw with 5 doors and its not a panel type van !!!!! mmgemini
Well it is nice to see......... Nobody reads UK newspapers Nobody watches BBC or Sky News Sitting in Walvis Bay in Feburary there was a news item about car insurance.....Remember ? It said that when you're renewal came through the door you could expect at LEAST a 50% increase. So why the complaints now ? So don't slag off one company..... jbs
My insurance for my 200 TDI 90 was £4.00 lower this year than last at £204.00 I'm a 40 year old male and live in Somerset-have over 5 years no claims, Mind you there was a very large bright orange sticker on the renewal letter telling me that most insurance premiums have gone up by 38% this year, Really glad mine has'nt, I use academy insurance brokers in Staines-Middlesex

Actually I don't read newspapers and rarely watch the TV. NFU are getting a battering because they seem to be possibly the worst for premium hikes. As many on here have found, it's still possible to get alternative quotes at little more than last years prices. If all insurance companies are subject to the same costs as NFU, but can still keep premiums competitive, how can NFU justify a 60% increase? pat_pending
I'm nearly 50, I've been on 2 and 4 wheels since I was 16. I've never made a claim against my own insurance nor had one made against me. I have a clean licence and live in a "good" postcode. I don't care how good NFU are, a 60% increase is taking the p***s.

All these companies including the so called specialist landrover insurers are takin the pi$$ !!! Like i said previously, NFU dont give a monkeys about insuring me cos i got more than 7 seats !! that to me is a joke, It is not only NFU, most of the companies are the same be it direct line, tesco or any of the others, I dont see it as "slagging off" a particular company but sharing experiences of these companies. If one company is mentioned more than the others then maybe that company should take a look at itself. Costs are rising and be it for what ever reason, we still have to pay it so basicly we are all here as a captive market. Paul
western
my 110 is insured with NFU, has been for the last 15 years, it was originally a 12 seater, but I reduced it to 5 for the work I wanted to use it for, been no problem, I'll find out if my premium rises when my renewal is due at the end of August. MONKEYCOPPER
Well, NFU got back to me today and price is £638.00 , about what my other quotes are, cheapest so far are SWIFTCOVER,£225.00, cover for cover NFU win hands down but price wise is another story !!!! bushwhacker
Hi I can relate to all that's being said, especially (nearly 50 and driving from 16, 2 and 4 wheels no claims or convictions). Living in N.I. I and I guess anyone looking insurance for something "slightlty of the norm" shall we say is a nightmare. Ordinary insurance is no trouble now! A lot of trawling on the net is required. I have gripped about this before along with alot of others and not really got any where. Now it,s starting to affect even more people is there anything we can do ? And I mean not just talk about it. I don't mind getting involved if it will help us all but it,s numbers we need 1 or 3 is no good. Regards
Simon B
Just had my renewal and it does not seem to have changed much, this is after some claims with NFU (none my fault) I'll check my paperwork later tonight.
Bomag
Vehicle insurance is legalised theft. People who make claims for injuries they supposably suffered have pushed premiums through the roof. Ive got a few cars, including an Impreza, so know all about high prices
Ed Poore
Just thought I'd add that Lancaster "can't" touch earlier than Td5 110 Station Wagons if they "unmodified". Tried to get a quote off them for a 110 CSW (9 seats) and their underwriters won't touch anything with more than 8 seats total.

Thrown yours in the bin yet??? I have highlighted the relevant parts... IMG.pdf Chris
