  1. and people wonder why less and less companies are offering this service.. If their insurance doesn't cover, we recover our clients ourselves if need be. Work out the costs and get it sorted.
  2. Registered mail - formal request replacement & all cost will be for the seller. 14 days response time. Don' t touch the thing - will bite you in the back eventually. Good luck !
  3. Very impressive - I really envy your skills !!
  4. Whatever happened to all the 3.5 Tdi Mazda's ??? They seem to have vanished... People are always welcome for tea - we even do coffee.... However, please give advance warning as I'm away a lot - often on short notice.. Hope to have the engine in by the end of next week when I'm back home again and to have it running. That is also the moment I can start putting up pictures. At the moment there is not a lot to see : just an empty enginebay..
  5. Bonjour, 1 - Yes, there is a growing problem with people abusing recovery policies throughout Europe and it is getting more and more difficult. Too many see it as a cheap way to get their wreck home while enjoying an hotel. 2 - Why can't you have a German Bank account if you officially live in Germany for 6 months or more ? 3 - Most European Companies will cover for only transport to the nearest workshop or the likes.. Good Luck !
  6. - Fit the 200 Tdi in the Series Hybrid - Electrics for the Hybrid - Go to Romania - Go to Portugal - Do the Scotland Pilgrimage
  7. Will have a look at the mounts in the Series today. I took the 2.5 N/A out and the mounts are the same
  8. I have a 200 Tdi, a new gearbox and a Series Hybrid, so...... However, a simple engine transplant, other than a Mazda for the 110, could be interesting
  9. Hmm.... I'll try to get something together. Please bear in mind English is not my native tongue and I plays with trains & Customs for a living : I'm not a Mechanic.. However - I did eventually build a 110..
  10. Yes.. Return to the original set up. If set up properly it works very, very well.
  11. You might as well remove the battery tray completely. Makes for more room. Nice Project !!
  12. Welcome and good to see a Series being rebuild !! One can take it as far as money, time & energy allows.. When we do a chassis swop for ourselves, we use a galvanized chassis and bulkhead. So much easier to do when it is all off.. I am know for overdoing the electrics - and for being nowhere near original - but yes, well protected wiring loom in the RH chassis rails with an additional garden hose that has extra wires are very easy to put in when bare and always useful.. Relays will help for better light, longer live switches etc. Good luck !!
  13. Bonjour All, I'm in the middle of replacing the gearbox & 2.5 N/A diesel in the Series Hybrid for a rebuild box and a 200 Tdi ex Discovery. As I know this is covered before I was wondering IF you'd all be interested in me doing some writing about this ? After all, it has been covered before.. And I don't want to bore you guys.
  14. Think you were having a great time ! ... and lucky...
  15. Having done more than 700,000 miles on LGP powered RRC I think I can be called an experienced user.. Like the other said, if the engine and systems are fitted well and maintenance is done it works very, very well. We had a 3.9 with carbs - last RR had 480 ltrs. of LPG and no petrol tank. Served me very, very well. But, and this it the big BUT, the engine needs to be in 100 % working order, properly set up and well serviced.
  16. Could be a blocked fuel line. Had that coming back from the Alps. Blow them though and have a look.
  17. Can't comment on UK as I live on the other side... We have just finished the build of an ABRI for the horses (13x5.5x3,5 mtrs.) and the building permit took 36 hours to arrive. For the workshop (9x11x4 mtrs.) we want to include a 4 poster ramp. Having LR's many times on them I know that 4 mtrs. is the minimum. Pits don't work for me - apart from all the fumes, groundwater etc. Make the building as big & high as you can afford - Workshops are never too big.. Bon Courage !
  18. If you take the LHD version it will fit rear facing.. However - a snorkel could be a consideration..
  19. Wise words from the man ! We use marine grade multi plugs for the connectors.
  20. The Ibex used to have a LR VIN No. and a few are around on that. Did a Carnet for one some time ago and that was on a 110 VIN no and looking outside my office it most def. wasn't... These days they have their own VIN and I was talking to them about this a few months ago and as they don't have a French approval they'd either need to be IVA'd here -more than serious money - or a European approval. Also costly. Oh well..
  21. Basically, only you can decide what works for you. Tdi, both 200 or 300, are fine to power a Ninety / 90. Lowering is something I just don't understand 2.8 conversion of a Tdi block is not really something I'd do. Spoke to several people, drove several "original 2.8's" and the gain compared to a well set up 300 Tdi does not convince me to pay the extra 1,800 or so ukp. I miss my 3.5 Mazda - but I think I'll keep the Tdi's and get Mr. Turner to rebuild me a few in the (too near) future But in the end, it all comes down to your needs.. Good Luck with the process !
  22. Bon Soir ! Yes - the heater came from Canada. I was fortunate enough to have a very, very kind forum member at LRA (Remember that..) who hand carried it to the UK and eventually it came to France. You can order one on line but the shipping is quite a bit of money. To me, there is no such thing as a "to big" heater as we do Winter Raids to the Nord Kapp and in Lapland we have minus 44 C from time to time and the Mazda's & Tdi's so far have been fine. Having the Webasto engine heater makes we can both pre-heat the engine and the interior.
