Hybrid_From_Hell
Isn't it odd how 'SWMBOs' tend to moan about our land rovers ....and time spent on them, yet...when they wnat a 'summer house' and the man says £30 minimum delivery charge if under £100 for the shuttering for the base work and I say "I'll collect" ...they sort of suddenly love said Land Rover ? Drive back with 4x 3mtr 4x2s and 1 x 6 metre 4x2 made for a very "Interesting drive" kinell Saw some ramblers, was tempted to go a joustin' with them The red cloth came off just before home, long live ratchet straps None the less LRs are handy for the 'house DIY', I am sure others here have used theirs for far wierder things ...............eh TC ? Turbocharger
Wishing you'd still got the hardtop now Nige? My best effort was moving house as a student - no money to pay anyone and all my stuff from Brighton back to Bath: Note the lean from the high CoG and the weight in the back putting it on the bump stops... Hybrid_From_Hell
This has the makings of a daft but amusing thread, wonder if it will end up moderated ? Oooooo ...........I moderate International Hardtop would have made little difference, couldn't get 6 f metre lump of 4x2 inside LR I wonder who will post up the daftest pic of LR "Usage" Nige

gruntus
No photos i am afraid but had a redneck moment a couple of years ago and used my Disco1 for tractor pulling some stumps out the front garden. Oh the raised eyebrows of the neighbours (well at least I dont own a Prius!!) The only downside was replacing the front UJ about a week after the hardcore off road action! Greenmobile
Go on then, no jousting but the 110 made a pretty useful mobile tree pruning platform. Much better than hanging off a ladder! I gave in after this tree as it was -10, with a windchill of -25.
TheRecklessEngineer
1 board, 8 sails, 3 masts, 2 booms, entire tool collection, 6 months worth spare parts, 2 bikes, 6 months clothes/possessions for 2 people, 120 litres spare diesel, full tank of fuel, and 2 tonnes of boat on the back. Note that this is with a 2" lift! And we had to climb a mountain!

landroversforever
No picture, but the Disco was used to collect all the slabs, sand and cement for the patio, all in one go! And more recently heaps of tiles for Mom and Dads bathroom.

Blippie
Came back from a Sodbury Sortout in a Camel 110 with an entire 109 hardtop on the roof rack - looked like a double decker. Otherhalfs love the Landies really, it's all part of the act. Cheers Blippie

TheRecklessEngineer
A post above reminded me - I once carried a 109 rear tub upside down on the back of a 109 with no roof. Plonked a few bolts through the hoop holes to stop it sliding off and a few ratchet straps to hold it down. Worked a treat. Got a few funny looks to say the least! Wish I'd taken photos... Cheers Blippie In my old freelander which had a great roof rack I drove from Eastleigh Travis Perkins to Porton Down Salisbury with over 250m of 4"x2" over 7.4m lenths. I drove past a motorbike speed trap and the police man just looked away. a freelander is under 4.8m
HPLP
I love threads like this one........ Heres my contribution. I drove back from Dumfries in Scotland to West Cork, Ireland with the following.....a 200tdi in the back, 5 tyres on the roof, a 16ft dungy behind and all my stuff (including the kitchen sink!)in the boat and filling the back of the 90. I did this with a knackered TD with the clutch slipping, and when I got back there was oil blowing out the side of the block with each piston stroke! Managed to get her up to the sum total of 60 but I to this day am convinced that she didnt get off the bumpstops! H
lrfarmer
sadly i don't have a pic but i had to pick up a triple ladder that each length will reach the second floor, it was 6ft infront of the bumper and 5ft behind the 90.

steve_d
Slightly O/T As a lad I brought home from the breakers the rear half of a Minivan on the roofrack of my Triumph 2000. The van later became a very successful trailer. Steve
A Twig
I've carried 380 yellow pages in the back of my 90 (could not see out the back) while towing a trailer for a trailer test. Flat on the bumpstops all the way, passed the trailer test though!
Anderzander
Most recently I moved 1 and a half tons of well rotted manure in the back of the 90. Smell was so powerful I drove a fair bit of the way with my head out the side window...
