dirtydiesel
What are the plans for the rear cross member? is it strengthening to support the two down pipes from the roll cage? Its more to get rid of the last rusty mud traps, and provide a little more protection for the back end.
CwazyWabbit
Looking forward to seeing the cross member mods

ToyRoverlander
What I was wondering... I don't know what kind of offroading you do, but do you have any problems with the rear mounted fuel tank? I've already damaged one which started leaking quite badly. And I seem to hit the rear bracket of this new tank very quickly even though it sits really high. I already have to be super carefull with it. Do you have a tankguard or something fitted?
miketomcat
Fridges fuel tank is about 3 foot off the ground due to having portals. Fit either a guardian or a southdown tank guard I've had both and can't rate them high enough. Mike

I don't believe I've ever seen a tankguard for a Series. And even if they do, my chassis is definatily not a standard chassis..
FridgeFreezer
Never been an issue, the tank is high up and usually the rear x-member will hit stuff first. There's a few scrapes in the paint on the tank but no real dents.
dirtydiesel
And the 109"s fuel tank is a custom one made out of 3mm
ToyRoverlander
That explains it . Mine will be relocated (custom tank under the floor above and in front of rear axle), it's way too vulnerable back there. Anyway, back on topic... That's one cool looking cage! I'm looking forward what gets done with the rear crossmember.
dirtydiesel
The rear x member is going to be along similar lines to the sills visually standard but very tough, i would have liked to something a little different incorporating rear quarter protection but the director of authenticity vito'd the idea. FridgeFreezer
but the director of authenticity vito'd the idea. Depends which of the many ideas you're talking about - if it was the one that involved cutting the rear corners in a Defender style then yes, that would be an affront to good taste I quite like the title of "director of authenticity", doubt I can persuade the mods to change it from my current one though
landroversforever
You can change your own can't you? or certainly could! That was just Barker exercising his powers
disco_al
"director of authenticity" sounds like a made up job title in some council office somewhere. nice to see *cough* symapathetic engineering that ties in wth the original design so well I don't know what kind of offroading you do he's only into light stuff really - nothing too heavy
FridgeFreezer
he's only into light stuff really - nothing too heavy  Sad but true - as Dan says, I don't even have a winch fitted!

dirtydiesel
The bonnet still opens further than std, and why would you need to open the bonnet more than once a year? let alone remove it?

FridgeFreezer
I reckon tweaking the hinges so the bonnet can be lifted off without being vertical, or fitting the Series II style ones which slide out sideways would do it.
