Maverik
Not quite land rover content, but I found the details of the screw design quite interesting, and only slightly miffed they didn't even counter sink them... Left hip metalwork.
landroversforever
Nice! Worth weighing you in now Thread looks very much like a woodscrew.
need4speed
Indeed. Very sloppy work mav. Could have done better yourself Love how the xray imaging penetrated through the solid titanium to reveal the detail of the hidden screw.... landroversforever
Wonder if Nigel has a set of those screws in his 'self-help' kit? Xrays are cool for seeing detail like that Phil. I had some welds Xrayed at work which was interesting
robertspark
I'm sorry but I cannot help but wince at those and the pain involved, hope you're OK (too many personal injuries ... not too far behind Nige for the A&E reserved car parking space / frequent flyer membership). Snagger
So, when do they fit you out with the retracting claws?
DavidW
Looks very painful. They got quite close to the edge on the bottom one didn't they?
mike4444244
That's a nice job, looks a little low because the X-Ray is a bit rotated, they are usually stainless steel, they aren't countersunk because that would massively decrease the cortical thickness and mean the head was into the spongy bone underneath, they are domed underneath to allow dished washers to be used in poor quality bone There's a lot of overlap between my day job and hobby lol! Hope you get well soon! Mike (resident forum orthopaedic reg!)
western
maybe we should give Mav a new 'bionic' nickname, interesting x-ray's, hope it all heals well & doesn't restrict your mobility to much.
Boydie
I have a few holding T9,10 & 11 vertebrae's together - they create some interesting conversations when I pass through a metal detector at the airport so expect the same
Anderzander
Quite a bit of work there ! Looks like a big break.....
missingsid
I have plates and screws in my arm, they don't set of detectors so I'd be supprised if those do sorry to disapoint (I was). It is amazing the difference they make though, a few weeks after four days in hospital (both bones in forearm snapped in two) I needed to do some urgent welding on my LR. To do this I had to carry a half sized gas bottle 100ft with ease. Marc
Simon Smith
Got loads of those screws and two plates in my right leg from a 70's bike accident when I was told I would never walk again. I also have some screws and a bent plate from when I fell over before the leg had mended. I can confirm that they don't set off the metal detectors at airports, though not sure why. missingsid
Must have been wierd bending them, if not painful? I used to wonder about bending them when carrying the gas. The other misnoma is "chicks dig scars" it took one girl I knew ten years to even notice the scars half the length of my arm! Marc
Simon Smith
It was very painful for an hour or so, but soon felt no different, just looked a bit odd until they changed it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ukemxiboc3n2s65/2015-02-22%2011.11.55.jpg?dl=
Maverik
I had vaguely wondered why the screws where canulated, with a bit of further reading and some rather graphic YouTube footage I found out... To get the screws on target they use thinner brazing rod style wires that they poke into position first then they slide the screws down the wires and use them as a guide, quite simple but rather clever. Don't Google the subject if you're squeamish... I'm sure there's an application of said method to a land rover somewhere...

CwazyWabbit
One of my dogs had a pin, a plate and 14 screws in his leg and the small screws were on the bill at £50 each ..... I wonder how much yours would go for Mav?

Anderzander
X-Cess leg pins - triple butted high tensile leg pins. A 2" plate of A2 stainless with M10 fasteners in your hip won't let you down ...
