  3. Knowing people that have tried to thin down a td5 disco looms... i wouldnt bother, besides defender looms are cheap on ebay!

  7. a friend of mine drove his 110 2.2 into a flood a few weeks ago. Only problem it had when i was towed out was a faulty gearbox sensor!

  9. imho the LR chassis doesn't lend itself to extreme suspension geometry. Also... it sounds like your spending far far to much money on an old discovery.
  10. fit the engine and gearbox/transferbox in one lump. It takes a bit of swearing but it saves laying on your back pushing a gearbox up. Done it many times!
  11. So what about machinery, tractors, plant and lorrys... are we going to have to go to electric... On another note, tractor MOT's are coming in shortly, and i presume a lot of the older tractors wont pass emissions or roadworthyness. Great for us in our new tractors with Adblue, but really really bad news for smaller farmers with old ropey tractors.
  12. Your RRC should drive like any other td5 defender or discovery. I think by modifying things your going to cause yourself many headaches!

  14. Id loosen the bolts on the winch and if the winch/mount is distorted. if not, strip the winch, degrease the gearbox, then reapply some good quality grease, but not too much! We just did the same to a TDS winch, the freespool has never ever been so good since new!
  15. You're wondering which order the bolts go in? bolts 5 and 7 are M10x40 Bolt 8 is M10x45
  16. Its on it third battery, 2nd alternator and second starter motor in 2 months. Our local Land rover specialist have been taking my 84 year old Granddad for a right ride!! Managed to find the bit you have to poke to be able to shift to neutral. Now at an auto electricians.
  17. My grandads freebie2 is dead, proper dead. I'm going to trailer it to a auto electrician to have them sort it. But how on earth do I get the auto shifter out of "park" so I can load it onto my trailer? 09 reg 2.2 diesel auto with a manual handbrake.

  19. the MT82 gearbox uses a TUD500020 There isn't one on lt77/r380 etc
  20. My friend has a screw driver welded to and poking directly up from the diff lock. simple!
  21. The defender appears to have had the EGR valve removed at a guess, this is a good thing!
  22. Lots of people use rod ends in a-frame applications, on a land rover you need to use bigger joints!

  24. degrease it, give it a little bit of a V groove, and lay some mig down.
