  1. Strange that he has 7 members of the Fear family in his friends list
  2. Jon, apparently his Mrs got all shirty when he kept going on about Mavis Beacon
  3. I know you'll have everything in hand but just in case, you can get the fuse box and crimps for less than a tenner delivered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-Way-Bulkhead-Blade-Fuse-Holder-Box-And-Terminals-Land-Rover-OEM-PRC4826-/130873526036
  4. I think what causes the plastic to melt is when the contacts get dirty. A dirty contact (or poor pressure on the contact) causes resistance which makes the contact heat up and eventually melts the plastic. I remember a deep fat fryer my parents had where the mains plug would get so hot you couldn't touch it, that was caused by the fuse being loose.
  5. Surely the wiring will just burst into flames soon anyway knowing your luck Jeff It'll save you the cost of the petrol .... silver lining and all that
  6. Doesn't the D2 get it's speed signal from the ABS? Where as the D1 gets it from the sender on the LT230?
  7. I've been using GiffGaff for over 3 years and have only ever put £15 on it, it still has a balance of £10. That seems to work for me, occasionally have to text it to keep it alive but they send a warning email to you when it's getting close.
  8. These babies Ed? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-2-2a-3-Front-Bumper-Recovery-D-Ring-Set-242139-/371058600341
  9. Probably happened when they fell out of somebody else's parcel
  10. Probably the fact that cctv is not ad-hoc but will always catch someone in a certain area. Even a dashcam which is the closest thing to cctv is regularly moving around so doesn't guarantee to catch people in a certain place.
  11. There is normally a coating on the splines as you describe. Mine was also just starting to delaminate when I looked at it last year, I decided to just grease it up and stick it back together, not really the most intellectual of solutions but it hadn't caused me a problem up to that point so I thought I'd wait and see. (Still fine btw)
  12. Perhaps a starret hole saw larger than the plug weld and with the centre drill removed might work, you could cut the whole hard lump out then. Probably be a bugger to start without the drill bit and would have to be done on a pillar drill with the axle firmly clamped down.
  13. It does Neil, the ICO have updated their guidance. https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/cctv/ Moe about the court case here https://www.kingsleynapley.co.uk/news-and-events/blogs/public-law-blog/watch-this-space-domestic-cctv-cameras-and-public-areas
  14. Looks like the same engine that Ash Witty has in his 110 ......
  15. I purchased an old PTZ camera and housing that I point to wherever I've managed to park my car, it's an old coax system and the joystick/controllers cost more than the cameras do! However you can use a cheap rs485 converter from ebay and a bit of software called PTZ Controller that you run on a PC to move them around meaning you don't need the joystick It has a 36x optical zoom which means I can park quite a way down the road and still get a close up view of the 110. As for the DVR I have an old commercial DVR that can record from 16 cameras, I'm only running a few cameras and as it's currently set up I get over 2 weeks of 24/7 recording. So far it's recorded one attempted theft of the 110, a raid by two minibus loads of police in riot gear, some kids who stole a load of tools from garden sheds, some bloke who received eye for an eye justice, and a few other burglars making their getaway..... As you may have guessed I get the occasional request from the police to check if I've seen anything.
  16. I've fitted a 99 relay from a VW sharan that I had kicking around in a box of spares to my bitsa of a 110, it's worked perfectly. I happened to find a 2nd one of them which I gave to my mate Simon Smith who has popped it in his 200 tdi 110 and his is working fine too.
  17. I've had a courier recognise me as I was walking back from town (I was about 1/4 of a mile from home I guess) pull over and hand me a parcel. I regularly get parcels by one of the couriers delivered to a house in the wrong road or another house in this road about 50 houses further along, I've got to know these home owners quite well :-/ Had a parcel imported from the states by the eBay global shipping program last year, made it all the way to the UK and through customs only to disappear at the couriers depot, it wasn't a small parcel either at 10kg. Parcel Force have so far been good and the only problem has been a parcel I sent for Saturday delivery arriving almost a week later.... they did however refund that one just the other day. On a related note my father a few years back did some work as a temporary post man and told me they were not allowed to deliver recorded/signed for items. So instead they were told to put 'we called but missed you' slips through the doors!
  18. He did pull an axle apart for this build http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=81516
  19. Some Pumas have had multiple shaft failures, I can't imagine the replacements were installed dry ..... or at least I'd hope they weren't
  20. I shall remember that for when 30k down the road you do a Puma
  21. Bear in mind the X-Eng bar uses a free wheeling hub for it's lock/unlock ability. This may be a difficult part to get if you break it in the middle of nowhere .....
  22. Not ashcroft shafts but I did have some Britpart flanges that needed a mallet to fit ....... unfortunately they loosened up relatively quickly afterwards ... perhaps it was just paint on the flange splines making them tight for me
  23. Thanks for posting with the solution to your problem. Welcome to the forum, stick around and perhaps post some pictures of your rebuilt 110
