dangerous doug
I am lucky enough to have seen Steve’s 109 and it is a really nice thing. From memory had a rrc lsc interior? I couldnt tell what was up with it, he kept nodding and smiling and eventually spilt the beans. Really nice tidy job

Bowie69
Some info on the boxes here: https://www.dstracaxles.com/products/portal-box-kit-defender-salisburg-axles Which actually represents fairly good value for money. No idea on the D70 based stuff, but not going to be this side of 20K by the time you have finished.

Daan
Dana 70 is like a dana 60 but even bigger. it always amazes me when people do stick a portal to the strongest possible diff; where with the portal reduction, A Dana 30 diff would be plenty-similar size to a volvo portal diff. dangerous doug
I wrote along thing about the load on the diff vs radial torque on the case but looking at their Instagram page they seem to have everything covered by making everything massive and heavy. OR you could have flipped some ford 9s upside down in spidertrax housings, easier to work on, lighter and modular ive weighed up the pros and cons of doing this with my Salisbury front and rear axles (which are a d60 centres) in conjunction with a reverse ratio transfer box and it isn’t a good idea…imo Dana axles will not make a better portal axle than what is already available
