I resisted the urge to get the floor mounted one just because of the lost floor space lol

Its what I used to shrink the end of this

dHdK4JI.jpg

A little tip since you have the deep mouth one you can shrink deeper into the panel.... shrinking deeper in doesn't show up as much(because it is resisted all the way to the outside edge of the panel, this doesn't mean you haven't shrunk the metal )

A good trick I find, if you want to shape with the shrinker is work it around in a sort of layer patern (in my case less further in more on the edge), this will cause the edge to tip about the depth of the shrinking die..... when you get it to this where the edge is pulling in I use a soft mallet and shape it over panel dies. The bonus of this is you beat the shape in how you want and you remove the stress deeper in the panel from the deep reach shrinking

I have a Proxxon MF70, which has a total bed travel of ~100mm and was previously used for CNC cutting keys... it isn't really up to whittling brackets or anything much involving steel in the workshop.

@mickeyw I'd be VERY interested, yes, give me a shout when the time comes :)

A freebe  for me from a guy I work with, as you can see it's damaged, every chance I will repair it at some point in the future

It will however do what I want it to do at the moment

Knocked up a very quick stand for it regards Stephen

The remains of that 3x4 inch chunk should do nicely to fix that...

Stubby little M12 1/2" impact to complement the heavy duty monster.

Also picked up the 3/8" extended reach ratchet as I've had a couple of awkward bolts to reach on heavy plant recently that it could have been really handy on but haven't used that one yet.

Peak torque on the stubby?

340Nm apparently. But it's just under 5" to the end of the anvil.

Narrower stuff is what the ratchet is for which was used this morning.

Front prop for comparison of size, this is the longer version.

I've just treated myself to the M12 3/8 extended ratchet. I am somewhat taken aback by the weight of it. With the compact 2Ah battery it comes in at 1.4Kg, and is noticeably unbalanced towards the anvil end. It's a big chunk of metal of course.
Data on all this product is rather lacking, and the manuals suggest that the standard reach weighs the same, which seems a tad unlikely to me.
I've not actually used it much yet, but I'm trying to imagine using it at arm's reach in some awkward position. How do you feel about it in this respect @Ed Poore?

I don't think it weighs that much but then I'm but a whipper snapper, albeit with a recently broken wrist. If you want weight try holding the M18 Framing Nailer at full stretch on one foot, balanced up a ladder...

The job where it would have been idea was swapping the starter motor on the JCB. There's a removable plate that sort of gives you access but the only tool you can use is a ratchet but you can usually get one or two clicks on it. So whilst I managed to crack it off with a 15mm spanner cut in half twatted with a sledge hammer it took about 4h to undo 3 nuts because I could only do one click at a time with the ratchet.

This one would have fitted in and thus made winding off the nut a doddle. Even the stubby impact would not have fitted.

I have the 3/8 normal sized ratchet. I got it on a whim when I bought my fuel 1/2 impact gun and right angle die grinder. I didn't use it for ages and started to think it was a waste of money but as soon as you start picking it up instead of a normal ratchet you end up using it all the time!

It's a bit like what we say about telehandlers on the farm here - before you had them you didn't think they were all that, now you have one you don't know how you managed without!

Not new gear as most of you will know I got this sander a while ago

We have been getting a large girth gear (5m diameter) dressed and the sanding discs they used are now scrap

they are 36 grit and 9" diameter

I use them on the above machine by just glueing them to the backplate, they can however be used with a 9" grinder with a backing pad or using a grinding disc as the backing pad. At worst there is a minimum of 80% useable disc left on them

So my question is would anyone like some, outwith my own usage I could give away about 80-100 of them, so depending upon interest I could post them in numbers of 5 or 10 regards Stephen

I bought one the last time they came up and it works pretty well. Easily capable of cutting rusty outriggers off a chassis ready for new ones for example

How easy is it to source consumables regards Stephen
