post-22-0-94554100-1331571047_thumb.jpg

Not so much as a "Try Here" or "we have spoken to so and so and to help you ..."

Just a Middle finger and for me less than 11 days to resolve

Kwality innit :(

nige

I like the way they have used a seismograph to write your name on the letter, they must have been expecting an explosion on the Richter scale before they even sent it :)

Q: is it true you are backing out of the 4x4 market? me and a group of friends all insure with you and have heard these rumours.

A: It is, the underwriters have lost a fortune. The problem has been false declarations of information mainly modification and mileage.

That's an interesting statement from them as surely a false declaration invalidates the insurance so the underwriters don't pay out but happily keep your cash.....

anyone tried Academy with a Q-plate?

Daan

Not tried Academy but i do have a Q plate 90 county challenge truck insured with Herts Insurance Services 01279 506090. Never had a problem with them & they were half the price of Adrian Flux when i first got the truck!!

Give them a call & try them??

But they probably still have to pay out for third party damage and injuries to people othan the insured.

With so few companies beung willing to insure modified vehicles it's obviously not a very lucrative market.

Hi

I have received not 1 but 2 letters from Adrian Flux telling me to call them for a quote.

I am in NI usually hard to get quotes for, I managed to get cover else where for my 1990 Disco, cant remember the name but I will post the company name later.

A F must be after business anyone renewing should give them a call.

Found it.

Try www.cherishedcarinsurance.co.uk

Hope it helps.

well, my renewal date has come, and after a quick ringround i have decided that Frank Pickles wont be getting my renewal money, Academy will!

apart from the fact that i really dont want to deal with a company that might dump me come my next renewal, they were 10% cheaper!

I have just renewed with NFU, but only after getting an excellent quote from Academy. My experience with the other regular "specialist" insurers was NOT good.

From the various quotes and discussions I deduce that I am insurance poison with an old vehicle, 1989, that is too valuable, £14,000, used too much, 20,000 miles per annum, 11,000 for business use, and too many seats, 12! My only virtues are lots of no claims bonus and advancing age.

Academy were only a little cheaper than NFU and did not offer the ability for me to wander into the office and ask stupid questions. My NFU local office tries really hard, so I will try to support them.

i have just recieved a renewal email from pickles for my modified disco and apart from a £60 increase to £183 a year it all looks ok

all they said is that the insurer i was with isnt offering this type of insurance any more, so the quote is from a different insurer,

Well yet another person with Academy now, pleasure dealing with them.

Only danger is they said that they'd insure any mods so big V8 is sooo tempting now if it wasn't for the fuel cost...

i'm another one dumped by frank just this week, but thanks to this thread i was expecting a knock back , i have tried academy & adrian flux both were easy to talk to understanding all my mods, but have today gone with flux as there quote was cheaper & the excess was lower

Got my renewal this week - been dreading it what with the accident and the MIB taking so long to sort out whether or not they'll pay out...was delighted to find it £4 cheaper than last year at £116.32...happy days!

just insured my disco with Academy, saved £63 .Scott and Matt very helpfull. They do like modified cars and they say that they also insure ex military, Q plates, imports and left hand drive. Scott and Matt both attend a lot of the 4x4 shows and were keen to know what i had done to my vehicle .

call them free on 0800 316 6266

I thought I would give them a try as well and was delighted when then quoted me £250 less than my renewal with Adrian Flux (£550). Being surprised at how cheap it was (£300) I agreed on the spot. This turned out to be a stupid move though as when I rang Adrian Flux to cancel my policy, they said they could cover me for £265.

As I had already agreed to the policy with Academy, I had to pay the £25 admin fee to cancel it. Still worth it, but an annoying waste of £25.

It strikes me as ridiculous that AF could afford to halve my insurance premium, it just goes to show that I was being ripped off before. I just never realised as the price seemed reasonable for a 24 year old bloke with 3 points.

This talk of Academy being good always suprises me. My home insurance fell to them after they bought the company i was previously with. Upon renewal, i phoned Academy - they did not have a clue!!! It was like talking to a school work experience person who had started earlier that day with no training, no idea of my address, my house, nothing....thank god i did not need to claim after they took the policy on!! I gave up in the end and went to NFU - got a discount too as the landy was already with them!
