Simon_CSK
Sadly I think I have come to the conclusion that I need to part with my CSK. I have had it for 20 years and it is lying rotting. I really do want it back on the road but the practicality or restoring it are distant and becoming more so as time goes on. Given the speciality of the car where is the best place to advertise it? I have contacted Mathewsons but is there somewhere else that may help? Don't think this is an Ebay item.
FridgeFreezer
I'll give you £50 for it fella Seriously though, given how collectible these are becoming I'd be looking at the classic car auctions and magazines, Bring A Trailer and stuff like that. Also the RRR may know someone who'd snap it up. eBay is for clowns - a reasonable place to buy but an awful place to sell. Autotrader has always worked well for me but I'm not sure about proper classics.

Lots of eejits and chancers, and some with dishonest motives. Good exposure though and you might be lucky. I tend to run my vehicles to destruction as I hate the process of selling, but the few I have advertised via Autotrader have all sold, but I don't think it is the answer for the CSK. I dont know anyone who has had first hand experience with Matthewsons. But it is tempting. As with all auctions, it all depends on who is there on the day. I have my old Rover car that I know I am never going to have time for, so it has to go, but like you, I don't know the answer.
elbekko
I'll come get it for £100 Sad day indeed. Hopefully you find a good way to sell it.
ThreePointFive
I'll bid a joke about a monkey and a cue ball I heard today. Is Car and Classic any good for this type of thing? Depends on the urgency, but better to rip the plaster off I expect and auction it.
jeremy996
I'd try the free classifieds in LRM and talk to The Market by Bonhams; they have got some high prices for Land Rovers over the last year. https://themarket.bonhams.com/en Much as I would love a CSK, my wallet is empty and I would be murdered in cold blood and buried under the patio if I bought it. Bowie69
Car and Classic would be my vote, proper enthusiasts, ESCROW for payments, proper AML/KYC stuff going on etc....

Autotrader has always worked well for me but I'm not sure about proper classics. EBay is getting silly. I see tailgate badges being relisted at the same ridiculous price week after week, have run into breakers who are too lazy to check if the scrapper they have has specific parts and either don’t reply or just say no. Facebook is far worse, though, rampant with fraudsters - every post I have had a sales reply to parts enquiries has been a fraudster, and about 30% of the members of the RR and LR trading groups are scammers. You have to be very careful these days.

Snagger
Well, if you find you can afford a restoration, at least the shell, then I can give you a recommendation. Shame to see it go, though. You’ll likely find a good home for it - the two doors and special editions are accumulating a bit, so it should be very much desired. Have you tried speaking to the RR restoration specialists? landroversforever
Might be worth asking what Kingsley Cars or Twenty Ten would give you for it. They may know someone after a CSK.

Should know at the end of this week how desperate I am to sell it as I awaiting approval of Planning Permission for some land I own.

task
Try popping it onto the CSK FB group and the other RRC FB groups once you've decided a price and have a brief description with photos. I sold my CSK through Ebay and have sold a couple of vehicles since, always sold quickly and with zero hassle using a "advert" rather than an auction, the most recent being my MGB V8. I visited them when deciding who to get mine done by. They are moving to a new workshop, but I saw some of their projects in the temporary shop and the work was very good. James Taylor (Roverphile) recommended them to me and uses them for his. The boss is a good guy and used to work on the RRC line in Solihull.
Simon_CSK
My CSK is causing quite a stir on Facebook but as yet nobody is offering any hard cash. When I looked back at my paperwork I have the following history:- Original owners logbook My logbook on purchase My logbook when DLVA went online Sales brochure with salesman's notes and registration (Private reg J200CSK) Presentation box with certificate sales brochure (pristeen) CSK booklet A scrawled sales receipt for my deposit Various MOT's SORN receipt The car requires extensive restoration but final value with a good restoration would should be very high particularly with the history and the limited ownership I had mention previously what I was offered and someone local said it was worth double that so I haven't a clue what I should be selling it before. I believe it to be unique because of the paperwork and something collector desire. Anybody got any ideas?

landroversforever
Have you looked at how bad it is underneath? Just wondering if it could be cleaned up enough to use, and then do it as a rolling resto? Spreads the cost over time.

I agree and I would also take some pictures of the inside. If it is as bad as it looks then anyone that is thinking of re shelling it really has most of the interest in the interior parts and CSK specific bits
Happyoldgit
Aye, would certainly be worthwhile tugging it out, pressure washing it top and bottom and then take a few photos against a less cluttered background. Then reassess.

You want to get across that this is a premium collectible. You're selling the history and exclusivity more than the actual vehicle (at least you are if you want to maximise what buyers will offer for it).
