😁😭 Not yet really..... However, one never knows.. We're about 600 kms. (foreign distance unit - something like 440 miles in your money) away from Calais so perhaps a bit far away.. Fuel is less expensive off Autoroute (Peage) and we prefer the Route Nationals to the Autoroutes. Takes a bit longer but less stress as the speeds are now in general 80 km/h and that is good cruising with 110's etc.. You're welcome to come by - we're 50 miles north of Clermond-Ferrant in the Allier... Enjoy the trip !

Bon Courage !!!!!! I have a spare bulkhead that is planned for a LHD conversion, the heater mods and than it gets dipped. .... just like the spare VHD 110 chassis I have sitting here. Been there, done that, etc. : the Series chassis & bulkhead that was dipped 30 years ago and stil solid etc. I HATE rust. Good luck with the welding and CAD repair sections !!

TTBOMK there is a difference between the diesel and petrol versions. ACC is soo overrated but was there on some versions. I don't have them in my vehicles, so I can't be of much help. Sorry

Clutch? problem, 110, 200tdi, r380
Arjan replied to ivanlrlukic's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Hmm...... I have had a slipping clutch under load (towing a trailer) that turned out to be caused by back pressure in the system. Adjusting the pedal travel, I had over tightened the pedal - causing the pedal to disengage almost directly and working fine but seems to keep a certain amount of pressure in the system, keeping the clutch from fully pressing against the flywheel, causing it to slip. Could be something to consider.. -
Handbrake allows series 3 move 6 inches forward and back.

Has never been a problem on the ferries. But if you're worried, take a few wheel blocks with you. Enjoy your trip ! -
I banned the GS from the workshop as he just makes the chaos worse... The Golden Retrievers & Cats however will not take no and keep pestering me while in there. I have a picture somewhere of me with 3 Goldens on our back onder a Land Rover.... However, what I'm wondering about is why you have the Defender type in a Series ? Me, I don't do standard wiring so shouldn't ask, really....

200TDI power steering pumps
Arjan replied to polker8's topic in Modified Vehicle Builds & Special Projects
What is the problem with the pump ? This is my 200 Tdi (ex Discovery) and we relocated the alternator so give way for the turbo to intercooler pipe. The GL kit works very, very well and the alternator up there will also get less dirty... -
Interesting suggestion...... @Stephen : you were spot on !! on the sides there is 6 mm. space so a good tight fit. Once build, the Mrs. will respray it. We are not sure what she'll do as the mentioned something about painting a flag on top...

Caveat Emptor... OT but I thought people should see this...
Arjan replied to ThreeSheds's topic in International Forum
No problem, is there ? it works... -
So do I.... However, this is not something one really plans..... having a forum relay like this is just Awesome. I now need to think about the lifting mechanism. Gas struts are not my 1st choice for several reasons.. A scissor lift, worm wheel driven ?, sounds like a good idea here but I'm not sure how to buitd / where to get some I want the roof to lift horizontally to create standinghight in the back - not some hinged affair... Suggestions anybody ?
-
After a long journey by car & boat, supported through people I have yet to meet, the roof hatch has arrived !!! Collected yesterday, and...... what a relief - it actually fits inside the roll cage !! 😂 Now it is time to think about the lifting mechaniscm.. Again, thanks you all !!!!

We used Chineese ones for a while that did OK but have now changed to full LED units. Being waterproof is a big plus...

Arjan replied to roamingyak's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Solder and crimp will work well.... I have just finished rewiring the Hybrid and use only point to point cabl - so no connectors, soldering, nothing - but I'm a freak.. Bon Courage ! -
