Blanco
It probably is,.. and the trip might even be legal next week,... but much as I have always wanted one, (and I am very jealous of yours),.. I just have to accept I don't have the resources or the income to see it through these days. I would just go and have a look but it is 4 hours from me! FridgeFreezer
He's still not had any takers for this thing at 20k, obvious ringer plus B&Q gate hinges securing the fuel tank and a load of other treasures: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202011146114887
Snagger
It’s monstrous, but worse, totally illegal. I hope it gets picked up by the authorities before som mug parts with a lot of money.
landroversforever
The reg number doesn’t come back to anything either? Just comes up details not found.
Escape
It sits too high, too much 'merican style for my taste, but I can't help but like the idea... Now if I were to find a TVR with a rotten chassis and a Range classic with rotten bodywork (those aren't hard to find!) maybe we could cobble together something similar. Without the B&Q parts, obviously! 🙂 Filip
CwazyWabbit
I like how the electrical tape holding on the steering wheel cover shows the love and commitment that has been put into this build

Yes - at least 8/10 for the idea but a very wobbly 3/10 for execution at best I think.
landroversforever
Wasn't sure which thread to put it in... The fake adverts are out in force at the moment as this vehicle I saw on ebay about 18 months ago as a genuine sale. It's currently appearing like this at least twice a week on average. Same stupid price every time from the scammers... and then often removed by ebay straight away, although not always.
CwazyWabbit
eBay are usually very slow at removing them, there's a facebook group that reports them, on some days they will find thousands of scam vehicle listings. The most I've seen them report was over 6000 in a day and over 100,000 in a month. That gives you an idea of the scale of the problem. I figured the numbers like that must be high based on how often I see that exact one... but not that high! . Doesn’t take many deposits on that volume of listings and they’re making a proper wedge. Popular Post CwazyWabbit
It's not just deposits, often the whole cost of the vehicle is paid up front by bank transfer. I know that seems stupid but they usually come up with a very convincing story as to why it's better for them to have the car delivered to you by courier. They do it with everything from high end camera gear to earth movers, they are making a lot of money. Camper vans seem the most popular. If you are bored you can do some scambaiting and go as far as getting the bank details for the transfer. Once you've done that pass them on to the facebook group and they'll get the bank account frozen if they can. The same account is usually used for multiple scams as they can be hard to get setup, so when it's frozen you may actually stop them getting money they've already scammed from someone else.

Bowie69
That guy should have his bank account frozen just to save the rest of the world from his bad taste.
Snagger
Well, most of it is removable, so a repaint top and bottom, standard wheels and suspension, seats and all the red bits and it could be fine. But as it is, not so much. His ignorance is on full display, not only for the online admission of EGR removal, which I think (open to correction) is illegal on that age vehicle, but the boast of a complete Terrafirma suspension package - we all know what their products are like. Those wheels are plain stupid.
ThreePointFive
I prefer my cardboard wheels. The TDCI dash conversion would have taken a lot of work and I would find it quite desirable in a TD5 Defender. However, this is exactly the fit and finish I was talking about in the wood interior thread. "Baggy" is the only way that leather can be described.

ThreePointFive
Looking at the bidding now, it seems like eBayers don't agree with our views. I suspect people are pricing based on the vehicle under the "upgrades". Or they're winding up the seller.

Snagger
I’ve seen better, but they are also better than I could do. But they belong on a teenager’s bedroom wall, not a car. It was a bad film anyway!

Yes, it does. I paid £300 for a narrow track that was full repaired, painted, panelled out and had a lid. Nuff said. Mike
