I thought this might interest on here (and it is a 4x4 as per the thread title!!) What's your budget? I know of a Ford 655 (I think it's a 655 he's selling not his 550) that might be up for sale if he can convince himself to do it. Extremely well looked after and just had a load of work done on it that wasn't really necessary.

ThreePointFive
It's not cheap and I don't want it, but it is perhaps the best-looking version of a Disco pickup I've seen. It doesn't even look as tail-heavy as most of the better ones, though that might be the photo angles. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276238932464 Shame it was driven on a beach.

hurbie
it will fit , just make it a mid engine configuration 😉

Anyway a similar accident(s) happened so now I need to find the roundtuits.

FridgeFreezer
This has no right to work as well as it does: There's a Renault 5 Turbo version too which also is way better than it has any right to be.

Escape
Even I can't find much not to like! How can such a mash-up look so much better than most continuation models? How about a Freelander 1 and a Metro 6R4? 😎

Shep The Disco
Fair enough. My friend recently put a Cummins 6bt in a defender and fitted an absolute mental turbo. It's around the 500hp mark . It's just so fast it's mental. Got a compressor on it and is using the air shift box etc. Madness 🤐

That looks like just a body swop.

Shep The Disco
Hmm yeah. Maybe even room for a flat four but I've not looked in the FL2 engine bay much The FL1 has a bit of room so a decent 3.0 straight 6 might just fit and I'll bet one fits in the FL2.. Anderzander
Not cheap (or even for sale) but this popped up on my Facebook feed: great comment section conversation underneath about standard axles:
Ed Poore
Kind of proves the point that axle survivability is down to the driver. Doesn't look like he's running massive tyres which will help too.

Indeed, some folks can grenade diffs with a 110hp TDi while others can cruise serenely round with more than double the power and never have an issue. Just like some talented folks can roll a Ferrari.
